Sustainable Solutions

St. Josephs is one of the most environmentally friendly print and exhibit communications companies.

St. Joseph Communications' commitment to environmental responsibility provides our clients with the reassurance that we are using products and services that do not harm the environment.

Partners in Growth

St. Joseph Communications is committed to help replenish the environment upon which our business and quality of life depend. This is the motivation behind our unique reforestation program, Partners in Growth, which we developed with Scouts Canada in 1990. To date, the program has led to the planting of over 2.4 million trees across Canada, covering 3,400 acres. For every ton of paper used on a customer's behalf, St. Joseph Communications facilitates the planting of three seedlings through Scouts Canada's Scoutrees program.

In 2007, St. Joseph Communications extended the program through a five-year renewal agreement with Scouts Canada. Under the terms of this new agreement, Scouts Canada will recognize St. Joseph Communications as the Exclusive Sponsor of its Scoutrees program. In turn, St. Joseph Communications will continue to make an annual donation to Scouts Canada to provide for program materials and to facilitate the planting of seedlings on behalf of its print customers.

Environmental Choice Program

In 2005, St. Joseph Communications' Ottawa facility became certified by the Environmental Choice Program - Environment Canada's eco labeling program. Started by the Government of Canada in 1988, the Environmental Choice Program (ECP) is one of many eco labeling programs around the world rewarding companies for their environmental leadership. To date, over 3,000 products and services have attained certification through the program.

To qualify for the program, a product or service must be made or offered in a way that improves energy efficiency, reduces hazardous by-products, uses recycled materials, is reusable, or provides some other environmental benefit. The ECP provides consumers with a level of assurance that the product bearing the EcoLogo meets stringent environmental criteria, evaluated by a credible third party.

The program and logo are internationally renowned because of the stringent certification process, which includes review of each applicant's product and process information; an examination of the company's assurance/quality control measures; and, where deemed necessary by ECP officials, an audit of the company's facilities for purposes of initial certification.

This certification demonstrates St. Joseph Communications' commitment to environmental responsibility and provides our clients with the reassurance that we are using products and services that do not harm the environment.
